Update: Provided by Coach Pittsford

  • Transportation Update- Freshman will be impacted by our ability to ride buses to and from games. JV/Varsity will ride buses.

    • Private Transportation Form- To be signed by parents

    • November 20/Burger Center- Freshman will need to be driven by parents to location. Parents can stay at this game.

    • Game Days- Freshman at school at 4:30 pm for HOME games and at 3:00 pm for AWAY games when riding bus/4:30 pm at location for AWAY games when not riding bus.

    • Monday, November 9th- Georgetown scrimmage for JV/V moved to Monday; arrive at school at 3:00 PM.

  • Senior Night- Will be moved to Delco game in order for parents to attend

  • Booster Updates-

    • Meet the Trojans was a success. Thank you to the volunteers that assisted with the event.

    • Snap! Raise fundraiser has started strong

    • Vype Media will be providing audio and video for all home games and five away games

  • Financials- Scott Lamb provided an overview of our current budget with those expenses removed that will not be incurred this year due to COVID. We had minor expenses under $300 year to date.

  • Membership- Gina Condon and Scott Francis presented information regarding our current Booster Club Membership drive that will run through November 19th.

    • Fees maybe be paid online or by check. Instructions are on form. Online payments will be subject to a 4.5% fee. Checks must be made out to Anderson High School.

    • Spirit wear includes a charcoal gray ¾ zip pull-over

    • Programs will be produced this year

    • Membership open through November 19th in order to guarantee timely delivery of spirit wear.

  • Player Yard Signs- Laura Wagner introduced Player Yard signs.

  • Practice- Both JV & Varsity have started practicing successfully. Freshman will start practice on Monday, September 21st and will finish each day at approximately 8:00 am.

  • Schedule- Has been updated from what was in handbook

  • Webstore- Team gear (shirts, shoes, socks, etc.) will be posted for purchase by October 1st

  • Parent Meeting- Scheduled for October 26th

  • Games-

    • Reminder that they occur over Thanksgiving & Winter breaks

    • No fans at Anderson at this time; however, games will be streamed

      • Huddle will direct stream from the large gym via tinyurl.com/andersontrojanathletics

      • AISD Athletics App will have games. For AISD only games, you must enter the HOME team to find the game.

  • Booster Updates-

    • Books have been closed from last season

    • Volunteer positions have been covered

    • Social Media Coordinator will be adding an Instagram account in addition to Facebook

    • Corporate Sponsorship drive will start soon

  • Officer Election- Twenty-three responses were received via the on-line Google poll for the remaining officer position. (Attached to minutes.) Scott Lamb was elected Treasurer for the 2020-21 school year.

  • Financials- A budget overview was provided by Scott Lamb, which included information regarding those areas that have been adjusted (i.e. no ticket sales, no concessions, etc.) due to the pandemic. There will be some new expenses such as a potential radio broadcast. Both the Membership and Corporate Sponsorship drives are forthcoming and will contribute to revenues. As things continue to change, adjustments will be made to the budget. The Booster Club will be kept apprised of those changes. There was a motion to approve the budget by those in attendance. The motion was passed.

  • Question & Answers-

    • Will there be a practice on Friday’s? Yes

    • How will other sports be handled? Try-outs to occur during football bye-week at the end of October and players will enter basketball as other sports end.

Welcome by Scott Francis, Booster Club President

Update: Provided by Coach Pittsford

  • Looking at governing bodies for direction as to how Summer activities will proceed-State, UIL, and AISD. The UIL Council is meeting 6/16 and expect more direction afterwards.

  • Strength and Speed is possible

  • Beginning June 1st, boys will have daily Zoom meetings throughout summer at 8:20 am – 8:50 am, Monday - Thursday. No meetings the week of May 25 .

  • Team Camps have been cancelled (including youth camp at Anderson)

  • Exploring participation in Great American Shoot-Out (GASO) in Round Rock (6/19) and Duncanville (8/23). Not mandatory and includes Varsity and Junior Varsity. Individual player fees will apply.

  • Try-outs will occur on regular schedule: 10th-12th first week of school and Freshman in late October/early November. Teams set in November.

  • Physicals for this year could be waived, if player has a physical on file. Freshman will need physical on file by first week of school.

Business: Provided by Scott Francis

  • Role of Booster Club- Support players and coaches. Expect Summer communications to be increased as we convey what is happening. Plan for school to start on-time and proceed with Booster Club support as usual.

  • Volunteer Positions- Most critical needs are for Treasurer and Membership Coordinator. Volunteer listing on website. Please volunteer.

  • Financials- Exceeded membership and Snap Raise goals for this school year. Booster Club purchased new uniforms and helped with play-off run activities. Banquet was cancelled this year. Plan for fewer Corporate sponsors for next year. Brandy Perryman camp was cancelled and will result in a loss along with Camp concession funds for our Youth Camp. We will wait to set the budget for 2020-21 school year until the September Booster Club meeting as we have too many unknowns.

  • Officer Elections- Twenty-three responses were received via the on-line Google poll. Attached to minutes. Officers for the 2020-21 school year include:

January 21, 2020

Scott Francis provided welcome & introductions.

Treasurer’s Report: Roslyn Breen was absent. Presented by Scott Francis. It was indicated that fundraising goals were met or exceeded for Booster Club membership, the Snap Raise drive, and Corporate sponsorship participation. Our budget is in good shape moving forward.

New Business:

  • Ticket Promotion at Bowie game was discussed

  • Pamela Armour indicated programs are available for pick-up or for purchase for $5.00

  • Yard Signs have been distributed by Laura Wagner

  • Senior Night is February 14th- Volunteers needed for flowers (Ellen Price), balloon arch and picture taking

  • Potential for play-off participation- Booster Club will be involved with t-shirts, programs, transportation and other activities

  • End of Season Banquet will occur on March 11th or 12th at First Presbyterian Church.

  • Volunteer needed for Co-Chair position. Cindy Austin offered to assist. Need to start on video for all teams. Will look for student to participate. Possible gift cards to students that volunteer.

  • Pancake Dinner has been cancelled for this year.

  • Discussion around the Concession Stand. Reminder to all parents to find a replacement for shift if unable to work assigned slot. Requested that schedule reminder via e-mail be sent to all parents. Discussed cash process between concessions and tickets. Requested a possible “Square” for transactions for next year.

  • Discussed volunteer positions for next year. Distributed list of positions with those of Senior parents highlighted for immediate need. This includes: Treasurer, Youth Summer Basketball Camp, Off-Season Team Coordinator- Varsity and JV, Membership, Corporate Sponsorship, Senior Banners, and Hospitality. If you are interested in any of these areas, please contact Scott Francis.

Coaches Report:

  • 5A alignments for next year will be released on February 3rd.

  • We are anticipating participating in Summer Camp at both Texas A&M and UT. Dates are unknown at this time but will be distributed when available.

Reminders:

  • Sign Up for Booster Club, yard signs, and away game meals tonight.

Business:

  • Financials- Roslyn Breen, Treasurer, gave a brief overview of the budget indicating that we are awaiting funds from Booster Club membership, sponsorships, etc.

  • Booster Club Membership- Sylvia Jabour went over the four levels of membership and displayed the spirit wear and indicated program ads are due to Pamela Armour by November 26th.

  • Concessions- Sylvia Jabour went over concessions for home games indicating all families are assigned a time to work in the booth. If a family is unable to work their time, it is their responsibility to trade with another family. Assignment handout provided.

  • Away Meals- Ellen Price indicated “away meals” will be provided for all weekday games and introduced the form for payment. Scholarships are available for meals.

  • Hospitality- Leslie Grove provided an overview of the hospitality room provided for coaches and referees at home games. Each family is assigned a date for contributing to the hospitality room. Assignment handout provided.

  • Anderson Classic- Jennifer Marlowe provided an overview of the Anderson Classic tournament to be held December 5-7th at Anderson. Eight teams will participate including Anderson, Westlake and six other out of town teams. The schedule is included on our website under the Events tab. A volunteer sign up will be provided in the next weekly e-mail. All families are encouraged to participate.

  • Volunteers still needed:

    • Ticket Sales Coordinator

    • National Anthem/Half-time Activities/Senior Night

  • Corporate Sponsorships- Scott Smith has been targeting local businesses. We are still in need of sponsorship supporters. Please contact Scott, if you are interested in assisting or know of a business willing to support our program.

  • All teams play this Saturday at Cedar Ridge.

  • Game Day attire includes khakis and ties for all players. Matching ties were distributed to the Coaches and Varsity team by the Booster Club.

Coach’s Report: UIL has changed some rules, and now the players can attend 2 hours of coaching instruction per week in the summer. For the summer, Coach wants the players attending Strength & Speed, the new instructional time and open gym so that they can be playing together more; he emphasized that summer select teams are not necessary if they take away from these activities. JV & Varsity will be attending 2 summer camps – A&M from June 14-16 and UT at the end of June/beginning of July. He also wants to have the coaches/players more involved with younger players via NWAYBA.

Treasurer: We met or exceeded all of our income goals this season.

Upcoming Events: Friday is a middle school night. Feb 1st is Faculty Appreciation. Feb 12 is Senior Night.

Banquet: Proposed date is March 13. Please let us know of any conflicts.

New Business: Scoreboard sponsors will receive website/program benefits for 4 years.

Anderson Men’s Basketball Booster Club Meeting Minutes

Coach’s report

  • Coach is hoping to implement a new weight training program in the fall before school 2 mornings a week; flyers were handed out. The period for Athletics may change so that V/JV is 1st block, and 9A&B are 2nd block. If this is approved, V/JV practice will start at 8am during season, and 9A&B will have a mandatory Saturday morning practice during season. Afternoon practices on Wednesday will remain.

  • Coach wants to involve the Vertical team and Community more in HS basketball. He hopes to involve the elementary schools in the Free Throw A Thon, and middle school teams in a few game nights. He also wants the HS players to participate in the 4th of July parade in NW Hills this summer.

  • Coach handed out copies of physicals which are needed for the UT Team camp. If you didn’t get yours, please have your player contact him directly.

Budget Update

  • Roslyn Breen discussed the current budget and then presented the proposed 2018-19 budget. A motion to approve the proposed 2018-19 budget was offered by Sean Breen, seconded by Jennifer Marlowe, and was unanimously approved.

New Business

  • Coach’s summer camp is July 16-19, and we will need volunteers to help. A camp for HS players is in the works for August to be run by the Urbanus brothers (who ran a camp at Anderson last year).

  • The Anderson Classic will be November 29-Dec. 1st. Teams are set: SA Holmes, Rockwall, Medina Valley, Kingwood, Dulles, Cy Falls, Westlake and Anderson.
